Update on the barn star
I got lucky yesterday!!! I bought 2 stars yesterday for 75% off. They are green so I will end up painting them pewter but they only cost me 3.98. I was wishing I bought two last time I found them so now I can make a couple for my living room.

Gonna go searching
One of my friends said she saw some barn stars on clearance at Cost Plus on Wednesday. I'm going to cross my fingers and see if there are any "left overs". If I'm lucky I will be able to get one for myself for a steal!!

Altered Barn Star

I saw this idea in either September or October's issue of Scrapbooks etc and showed it to my mom. She fell in love with it and I thought, "too bad those stars are probably hard to find..." Anyway the next week I found one at Marshalls and knew that I had to make one for her for Christmas. So here's the final product. (I'll post some detailed pictures as soon as the camera battery charges.)
I used the SU baroque paper, a sheet of my own design in buckaroo blue and a sheet from the Fairy Tail Matte Stack. It is useful to print pictures at least in 5 x 7's which I did and I made a template out of vellum to know where to crop the pictures, and for the paper.
By the way the gift went over very well. My mom cried. I even took pictures of her crying. I'm so insensitive!

Advent Calendar

Really there are only 4 days left, but I took this picture a while ago as you can see. I got this at our annual SU demo Christmas exchange. We do it white elephant style and I think I must have a thing for advent calendars. I made some dry-erase picture frames that were calenders but didn't have time to take a picture...too bad.

Christmas came Early!!!
I just got my complimentary copy of the next SU catalog and I just have to say it rocks!
You will love the new sets and accessories it features! There are lots of rub on sets, new glitters, micro beads, "sticky cuts", lots of fun styles I can't wait to buy and show! I just spent the last half hour looking through and telling myself I need to pace myself, {sigh}. Have a nice day!!!!!

Pinecone Ornament Tutorial
I learned how to make these fun ornaments from my friend Connie. After I saw hers I've made quite a few. The best paper to use is a fairly lightweight one because of all of the folding and pinning involved. So dig into your drawers and use up some of that scrapbook paper you've been hoarding!

Supplies Needed:
1 box of appliqué needles*
1 12" x 12" sheet of single sided scrapbook paper
1 3" Styrofoam ball
Approximately 2' of wide ribbon
Thimble
*You can use other sizes of flat head pins but these are the easiest to push in.

2 Fold all the strips into triangles.3 Pin the first four triangles as shown in figure 3. You may have to overlap some of the triangles in order to get a nice edge with non of the white showing. You will pin down the outer corners as well in this step.

4 Pin the second row of triangles as shown in figure 4 and 4a. On this particular row I match up the point of the triangle with the line below it. On each row you will only use four triangles. Note that you only pin down the top points on all of the remaining rows.

5. Continue to pin rows until you reach the mid point of the ball. To keep the look consistent make sure the top triangle's point matches the angle of the bottom point.

6. Take about a foot of ribbon and pin to the middle of the Styrofoam ball as shown in figure 7. I usually just hold the ribbon up to the ball and "eyeball" it.

7. Continue to pin rows, as the size of the ball decreases this is where you will want a thimble to save your fingers! Notice that I am pinning right over the top of the ribbon. This keeps the ribbon securely in place.

8. Make sure you save a couple of very neatly folded triangles for the top section see figure 9.
9 Tie remaining ribbon around the top of your ribbon loop and you are finished.

All I want for Christmas...

Sony DSC-H7
If anyone actually knows my husband well, they know that he cannot wait to give presents. If he has them in hand he wants to give it right away. That is why I have this awesome camera right now. I love it! It is the perfect digital camera for a person like me who doesn't have a steady hand, but likes high quality images. He also got me a 4 gig card so I don't run out of space very quickly. I can store about 1200 photos at 8.1 mega pixels. And if you forget your memory stick the best part is there is 32 megs of storage space built into the camera itself. The coolest thing about the video feature is that I can fill the available card space with one continuous shot. I'm just so excited so I had to share!
